Independent Broker- You get choices from many different companies. Independent brokers represent you and shop all the different companies. We are not tied into any one insurance company. A lot of people think if I go to the insurance company direct they will get a better price. WRONG! The prices are the same for whomever you use.

Captive Agent-Works for one company and can only sell you their products. They cannot compare other plans with a different company.

Call Center Agent- Works for one company and will sell you only their plan. They cannot compare for you other plans with a different company. Your first contact is calling them. Most call center agents will take your application and that is where it ends.

Turning 65 broker.  There are a lot of brokers out there who only mission in life is to sell you a medicare supplement when you turn 65.  After that you never see or hear from them.  Why is that a problem?  You may get an rate increase from your carrier that is significant.  After your initial enrollment period is over in order to change medicare supplements you have to answer medical questions.  The turning age 65 broker never deals with this type of client and doesn’t know what medical questions will accept or deny you.  You want to deal with a company like ours who knows what carriers will take you if you want to switch at some point in the future.
